Family Advocate Aide

 

Division:        Head Start

Reports To:           Center Director

FLSA Status:        Non-exempt

Salary:                  A-31

 

 

Summary

Performs community contact work on entry-level duties of cases and assists in providing services to family members, under close and regular supervision and mentoring of the Family Advocate.

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

·         Assist in recruitment and enrollment activities.

·         Assist with processing the enrollment application.

·         Assist in monitoring all child files.

·         Assist with referring families to community resources and other organizations.

·         Assist in the coordination of parent involvement activities.

·         Participates in parent involvement activities.

·         Helps with the development and maintenance of a parent communication systems.

·         Assist in addressing the Home Base case management needs.

·         Assists parents and staff in developing strong knowledge of the community resources.

·         Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters relating to casework.

·         Attends center, local and regional training programs and staff meetings as required.

·         Completes paperwork and submits reports as assigned.

·         Performs related duties, as assigned.

·         High tolerance for paperwork, documentation and meeting district and federal deadlines extremely desirable.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education and/or Experience

Experience and training equivalent to a High school diploma or a GED is required.  Head Start experience or one year experience in the social service field is required.

 

General Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of local resources.  Strong organizational and problem solving skills, and self-motivated.  Personal computer skills preferred.  Ability to communicate clearly over the phone and record information.  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of varied social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.  Ability to maintain orderly files.  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Bilingual skills in either Spanish or Native American languages will be given preference.  Must be bondable.

Current, valid Arizona Drivers License.

The employee is occasionally required to independently drive a motor vehicle for extended periods of time (up to seven hours) within the region and state.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
